Job Information

Due to business growth and internal restructure, we are recruiting for a Leading Hand on the rotational days / evenings shift within the Injection Moulding Production department of our manufacturing plant.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 7.00am to 3.00pm / 3.00pm to 11.00pm on a weekly rotational basis - 40 hours per week (8 hours a day including 30 minutes of paid break).

Starting salary of £27,976 increasing to £30,950 upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period.

Applicants will ideally have previous experience within a supervisory capacity and experience within manufacturing.

As Leading Hand, you will work closely with the Team Leader, supporting them to ensure your shift runs smoothly and production targets are met. It is expected that you will be able to step up to fulfil key elements of the Team Leader role in their absence. You will lead by example and have a “hands on approach”, supervising the staff on shift to ensure the smooth operation of the department, and that the production schedule is completed as required.

Key roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• To ensure that staff under your report complete their full duties safely and efficiently.
• To ensure that allocated breaks for your staff are staggered throughout your shift and are monitored and controlled.
• To ensure that discipline is maintained, and any disciplinary matters are reported to the Production Manager.
• To monitor the output from the injection moulding machines and work with the QC department to ensure that product is in line with the
required standard.
• To ensure that all injection moulding machines are maintained and in operation during your shift, unless informed otherwise.
• To ensure that any breakdowns on the injection moulding machines, when possible, are resolved in a timely manner.
• To work with the Production Maintenance Engineers to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the injection moulding
machines.
• To resolve product quality issues efficiently and effectively.
• To ensure that the correct declarations are being used on Barco.
• To ensure that the level of housekeeping in the department is maintained at a high standard at all times (ensure all staff leave their work
areas at the end of their shift as they would expect to find it).
• To have a flexible approach to the job and be willing to cover for other Production Leading Hands when required.
• To use the Fork-Lift Truck (subject to certified training).
• To cover for sickness and holiday periods when requested.
• To report and deal with any health and safety risks that require attention or elevate where help required.
• To keep the Production Manager informed of any problems with machines or equipment that require attention.

What skills / qualifications do I need?

• Previous experience of working within a Supervisory capacity – ideally within manufacturing.
• Proactive, problem solving, “can do” attitude
• Excellent communicator
• Ability to work under pressure
• IT Literate
