The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Eurotunnel for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our civil engineering department as a civils technician. You will be part of a team of technicians to assist in the planned maintenance of all Eurotunnel civil engineering assets including railway, service tunnels, terminal, and building infrastructure. You must be prepared to work on a shift pattern and participate in an on-call rota. Premiums are paid for shift work and on-call.
This position will interest you if you are logical in your approach and enjoy problem-solving in real time. You will need to demonstrate your ability to work autonomously, promoting quality and high standards at all times, and show the aptitude to work under pressure and remain calm to support the operation and work colleagues.
Principal Accountabilities, Qualifications, and Experience
• Complete planned maintenance in running tunnels service tunnel, and Terminals in accordance with the maintenance instructions and record in MMS. Respond to anomaly reports from customers.
• To interface with the Railway Control Centre (RCC), Terminal Control Centre (TCC), and Maintenance Control Centre (MCC) on the operation of the civil equipment.
• Quality control of subcontractors.
• To complete consignation including, receiving (DPT) and processing the necessary safety documentation for railway zone and UK terminal road works.
• Be aware of Minimum Operating Requirements (MOR) and take the necessary corrective action to prevent breaching.
• Assist with validation of maintenance documentation and consequent improvements to the systems.
• Assist other systems and equipment services as and when required.
• To participate in and promote the binational working relationship of the Department.
• To complete all the necessary administrative shift reports and documentation.
• Participate in the organisation and planning of the maintenance as and when required.
• To make sure that quality insurance arrangements as described in various documents are respected and any revised documents are read, understood, and acknowledged.
• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a civil engineering environment is essential.
• CSCS card or equivalent site qualification in civil engineering and or building environment, with a minimum of 5 years work experience.
• Experience in construction plant machinery and in industrial maintenance.
• Fluent spoken and written English essential. The ability to communicate in French is not essential but would be an advantage.
